I am interested in creative process and innovation be it Miles Davis or Jack Welch, and am eternally searching for new paths to discovery. These pages contain ideas I have obsessed over or experienced in my own creative endeavours.

I am a Musician, Writer and Web Developer living in Austin, TX. I read self help books, derive great enjoyment from chopping vegetables, want to collect watches, am currently obsessed with bossa nova, and sometimes wish I had been an architect so I had something intransient to point to for my efforts. I graduated from Berklee College of Music where I studied under songwriting education innovator Pat Pattison. After college I spent several years writing reviews and the occasional article for Okayplayer, and playing a little too much James Brown. Currently I work for The Human Solution, an online ergonomics retailer, and occasionally freelance on a project by project basis.
This blog is intended to take creative process and innovation, two subjects I obsess over, and condense my ideas for application to as many markets as possible. Most posts are intentionally short and to the point. I don't want it to feel like you have to make a time commitment to each new piece of content. My goal is to write quickly digestible articles to serve as an inspiring distraction, but only for a few moments. After that it's time to get back to work. Think of these articles as the Jetson breakfast for your creativity. I hope Second Lamppost will be a well rounded meal to sustain you all day, but I'm serving it in pill form.
